Krystal Pérez is a first-generation Cuban-American artist from Miami, FL, currently based in Portland, OR. She has experience in a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, printmaking, and digital art. Her studies in cultural anthropology inform how she approaches art and her perspective on engaging with the world. A constant curiosity to learn about people and the world they occupy fosters endless inspiration.
Krystal has a strong appreciation for the natural sciences and is inspired by illustrations in scientific textbooks, as well as the magic of Madre Tierra. She celebrates her Cuban heritage by emphasizing everyday experiences of the culture, such as cuisine and family life, as well as her memories of growing up in South Florida. Aesthetically, she enjoys bridging old-world illustration styles with modern perspectives, aiming to be as informative as expressive.
